UNDERSTANDING YOUR SKIN TYPE

Hey guys ,

Bringing you all the positive vibes from this end  my smile can testify !

If you are like me, you love makeup ,and are looking for best ways to take care of your skin then you will agree with me that understanding your skin type is the basis for your make up application ,it also determines the products you use and guides you in  giving quality care for the skin.
which is why I have decided to share this guide. You understand your skin best when it's without makeup or treatments. Studying the skin on the face is the most sensitive, you get to know how best to care for it through the different categories.

NORMAL SKIN
It's neither oily or dry its free from blemish and hyperpigmentation, this skin stays flawless. No enlarged pores and it always appears smooth. Although, they develop wrinkles with age but when taken care of ,could be well avoided. In my opinion this skin type is very low maintenance,as your don't have to be bothered with treating hyperpigmentation and other skin problems. Now don't get carried away, it's still recommended to have a good and consistent skin care routine, eat healthy and exercise (the whole shebang)

OILY AND ACNE PRONE SKIN
****
Like the name implies  normally has a shiny appearance because the body produces more sebum (oil) than is required. The pores on the skin are enlarged. Although, not everyone with oily skin has acne, but most times it is prone to acne and blemish. This is where I fall in oily plus acne prone (story for another day). The upside is oily skin hardly develops wrinkles or fine lines. If your oily skin causes acne it's best to treat internally(seek professional help) and externally (with topical treatments). Cleanse your face twice with a gentle cleanser, use a toner that has no alcohol, then apply moisturizer that is oil free. This helps to moisturize the skin and prevent it from drying out, also use acne treatments. Generally, a healthy diet changes a lot.

DRY SKIN
****
Dry skin appears dull and flaky, it lacks luster, it screams for moisture all the time . What this skin type needs is a lot of hydration. You can cleanse twice with a very gentle cleanser, apply hydrating toners to counter dehydration, apply a hydrating moisturizer afterwards. When applying make up too,  pay attention to the primers you use and foundation, you also need a hydrating primer and foundation.
Note the key word for this skin HYDRATION

SENSITIVE SKIN
***
This skin type always feels itchy, with blotchy patches and red spots. Due to its sensitivity, you ought to be careful when selecting  skincare products. The products that are hypoallergenic is safe for a sensitive skin.  Also, people with acne prone skin are also in this category, the best skincare products should be non comdogenic and hypoallergenic. Once you master your skin safe products, you will be alright!

COMBINATION SKIN
****
This skin type has a combo of dry and oily areas, mostly oily around the T-zone area (forehead and down the bridge of the nose) . The best way to treat this skin is balancing it, avoid soaps with harsh chemicals, use a gentle cleanser, tone and moisturize .
                          ****
You should also note that skin, can be affected by environment, your stress level and most times products you use, even diets . And the one  key to a healthy looking skin is to stay hydrated, drink a lot of water 8-10 glasses a day ,your skin will thank you.

Long read, I know ,hope you picked a thing or two .
Have you discovered you skin type? How are you dealing with it,let's talk in the  comment section .

Bisses,
Cynthia
